Yes, this is a wildly creative, joyfully hilarious animated film packed with kung-fu fun from start to finish! The movie is called THE PRODIGY, made in 2008 with its DVD just released. Don’t judge by the visuals and assume it’s from some third-world studio. Per Prevalent Entertainment, the whole team came from DreamWorks and Disney: director ROBERT D. HANNA did effects on Shrek 2/3 and Madagascar; storyboard artist STEVEN GORDON worked on Shrek 2, Madagascar, X-MEN REVOLUTION; character designer DAVID COLMAN (now at Disney) won an Emmy for CLASS OF 3000. Prevalent says it was all US-made, zero outsourcing. Maybe Americans craved a change from blockbusters, or the real talent was off making Up—anyway this all-star crew delivered a film whose characters, backgrounds, action and lighting all look 15 years old.
